Further Information

Although generally thought of as a garden pest, slugs in particular can also be a household pest and the evidence of this is often to be found in the morning with tell-tale signs of shiny trails across kitchen floors and lounge carpets.

General information

Both slugs and snails belong to a large group of animals called molluscs. Slugs have actually evolved from snails, and there are about 24 species of slug in the UK and numerous species of snail.

Slugs and snails as a pest

The best way to deal with slugs and snails in the garden is our Slug and Snail Trap filled with our special non-toxic bait. We don’t recommend the use of pellets, as some important species of bird and mammal – e.g. the Song Thrush and Hedgehog – both eat snails in particular. The problem occurs if the snail is eaten by the Song Thrush or Hedgehog immediately after the snail has eaten the pellet. The poison is then in the body of the animal, which can harm it.
